Child Abuse

Child abuse happens when an adult mistreats or neglects a child. The person who abuses is misusing their position of trust and authority. This could be a parent, guardian, relatives, paid caregiver or sibling.

Children depend upon adults to protect them, support them and help them survive. Being abused damages their sense of safety. It also makes them more likely to be abused and exploited in the future.

Child abuse is a silent crime. It can happen in all cultures, social classes, and religions. Also, children with disabilities are more at risk for abuse.

It is a crime that is less likely to be reported partly because the the domestic crime/violence takes place at home where hardly people realized and notice

Studies confirms what many in the trauma field already know - that child abuse permanently alters the brain. Now we know it also alters DNA - so it can actually impact evolution. The stress response - cortisol - apparently can seriously change brain function and can also change gene expression at the DNA level.Studies have shown that child abuse or neglect changes the hormonal stress response and increases the risk of suicide in the victim.child abuse has raised around 60% in the last 2 years. That's worse than you might think.
